L’Olivastro is a baroque ensemble specialized in Italian music of the XVIIth Century. The name of the ensemble is inspired from a poem with the same name, written by Giambattista Andreini, a poet, actor and creator of the Fedeli, a Commedia dell’Arte troupe of the time. He collaborated with many composers including Claudio Monteverdi on the creation of several of his first operas.

The artistic goal of L’Olivastro is to give to this music of the seconda pratica, a small touch of the color of the theatrical context it grew up with.
